Sakamoto Days Anime: Story, Characters, and What to Know

What happens when a legendary assassin leaves his dangerous career behind to enjoy an ordinary family life? That is the central idea behind Sakamoto Days, an action-comedy series that combines intense confrontations with everyday humor.

The Sakamoto Days anime adapts the manga by Yuto Suzuki, introducing viewers to a former assassin whose peaceful life is repeatedly interrupted by people from his past.

What Is Sakamoto Days About?

Taro Sakamoto was once feared throughout the criminal underworld. He eventually leaves that life behind, falls in love, and starts a family.

He now runs a neighborhood store and wants nothing more than to protect his family and live peacefully.

Unfortunately, his reputation and past connections continue to attract dangerous opponents.

Instead of returning to his former lifestyle, Sakamoto tries to handle threats while preserving the life he has built.

Meet the Main Characters

Taro Sakamoto

Sakamoto is the central character. Although he appears to be an ordinary shopkeeper, he retains extraordinary combat skills and tactical awareness.

His commitment to protecting his family gives the story its emotional foundation.

Shin Asakura

Shin is a former associate who becomes closely involved in Sakamoto’s new life. His ability to read minds adds an unusual advantage to confrontations and creates opportunities for comedy.

Lu Shaotang

Lu becomes part of the group surrounding Sakamoto. Her background and fighting ability help broaden the cast beyond the main character’s former connections.

Together, these characters create a balance between action, humor, and teamwork.

What Makes Sakamoto Days Different?

Action Meets Comedy

The series moves between serious fights and absurd situations. A simple visit to a shop can turn into a confrontation involving highly trained opponents.

This contrast helps the story stand out from more consistently serious action anime.

A Different Kind of Protagonist

Sakamoto does not pursue fame or power. His main motivation is protecting the people he cares about.

His character challenges the usual image of an action hero who constantly seeks new enemies to defeat.

Creative Fight Scenes

The series uses ordinary objects, environmental details, and quick tactical decisions to make confrontations distinctive.

The appeal comes not only from physical strength but also from how characters adapt to their surroundings.

Should You Watch the Anime or Read the Manga?

The anime is a convenient starting point if you prefer watching stories unfold through voice acting, music, and animation.

The manga is worth considering if you prefer reading at your own pace or want to explore the source material.

Either option can work, depending on whether you prefer animated action or the original printed story.

Final Thoughts

The Sakamoto Days anime combines action, comedy, and a surprisingly heartfelt premise. Its central idea is simple: a former assassin wants to protect his peaceful life, but his past refuses to leave him alone.

If you enjoy action series that do not take themselves too seriously, Sakamoto Days is worth adding to your watchlist.
